The outdoor malls here are massive complexes packed with hundreds of shops and stores, and the crowds are incredible. We stopped to get an “Extreme” caricature made of us and our cats, which turned out pretty hilarious. What’s really wild though is that you can escape the surface crowds by going underground, only to find an entire labyrinth of shopping beneath the city that’s just as busy and packed. These underground malls stretch for blocks and are mixed right in with the train stations, so you can shop, eat, and catch your train all without ever seeing daylight. It’s like there are two complete cities stacked on top of each other, both absolutely buzzing with activity.
